Full-Time Visiting Assistant Professor Landscape Architecture

The School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture (APLA) at Auburn University, a comprehensive land-grant and research institution, is seeking applicants for Visiting Assistant Professor in Landscape Architecture. This is a one-year (nine month/two semester), non-tenure track position commencing in August 2026. The Auburn University Landscape Architecture Programs are research-informed and design-led, dedicated to training quality designers, addressing contemporary issues, and participating in critical landscape discourse.
Responsibilities:
The Landscape Architecture Programs seek a candidate with a strong interest in teaching both design studios and seminar courses. Candidates should have the capacity to teach at least some portion of: a.) our core studio sequences (Studio I-IV and Workshop I-II in the BLA program; Studio I-IV in the MLA program) and b.) our core subject tracks (construction; dynamic systems; graphic studies; history, theory, and practice; plants). There may also be opportunities to teach elective seminars or advanced studios within the Alabama Lab.
Regardless of the candidate's scholarly focus, responsibilities of the appointment include teaching, service, and research. The successful candidate will demonstrate the capacity to maintain an active scholarly program disseminated through appropriate disciplinary venues. APLA faculty engage in and are supported in a broad range of formats for research and creative work.

Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must have a Master of Landscape Architecture degree or a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture plus a terminal degree in a related field at the time employment begins. The candidate selected for this position must be able to meet eligibility requirements for work in the United States at the time this position is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment. Harvard’s Department of Landscape Architecture is actively seeking highly qualified individuals for the position of full professor, offering graduate-level instruction and conducting advanced research with an emphasis on design.
The preferred candidate should have established a distinguished international reputation for their work in the discipline and/or profession of landscape architecture. They should have experience teaching at the graduate level, and are expected to teach in design studios, lectures, seminars, and/or workshops in the context of an interdisciplinary design school with collaborative faculties in architecture, landscape architecture, urban planning, urban design, real estate, design engineering, and design studies. Applicants should be prepared to advise thesis students and doctoral students. All full professors at the GSD are active participants in the collective project of the school itself, which might include program and departmental leadership roles.
We seek candidates who are committed to advancing environmental and social justice in the contemporary city. Candidates should demonstrate expertise in landscape architecture and its intersection with urban design and contemporary public realm design at all scales of human and non-human interactions. Candidates should see their work as expanding disciplinary boundaries and working across scales, embracing the multiple forces that contribute to the conceptualization of urban landscapes and their public dimensions. We are interested in candidates who have developed a research trajectory in public realm landscapes or with a history of consequential professional practice that ties to a design research agenda.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants are required to hold a master-level degree in landscape architecture or equivalent, or in a closely related field. A doctoral degree is considered an enhancement. Los Angeles Neighborhood Land Trust Job Opening
Project Manager

The Los Angeles Neighborhood Land Trust facilitates change by collaborating with low‐income communities of color in multiplying their power and influence over the use of land. We work with residents to increase access to parks and gardens, while organizing to change local policies to develop more equitable park and food systems for generations to come. We believe that this work is necessary to overcome decades of disinvestment, racism, and environmental injustice in low‐income communities of color and that no person in LA County should live without a safe park or access to fresh, healthy food. As a community‐based non‐profit land owner, developer, and steward for safe public space, we work with residents from planning site identification to design, construction, and stewardship.
We meet our goals by:
Designing, building and managing urban parks and gardens;
Organizing and developing campaigns to address both social and environmental conditions, including park equity and land use policy improvements;
Supporting and developing community leaders, both youth and adults to be advocates for park equity and food justice through programming, training, and technical assistance.
Partnering with community‐based organizations, government agencies, and key stakeholders to advance our project and policy work.
Since 2002, we’ve helped create 30 urban parks and community gardens, serving over 500,000 Angelenos living within a 10-minute walk of our green spaces. We currently steward 13parks and community gardens.
Position Summary: The Project Manager oversees and leads the development of park and school greening projects, including facilitation of participatory design processes, management of all consultants and contractors, grant writing, community organizing, and research to support both ongoing and new projects.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Manage outreach, design, and construction processes for all green spaceprojects.
Ensure that projects are constructed and/or implemented according to budget, timeframe, and professional standards.
Hire, coordinate with, and oversee consultants during the creation of designs, drawings, construction documents, and other deliverables.
Coordinate with consultants, contractors, City and County agencies, and other entities necessary to attain proper approvals, permits, and other project‐specific requirements.
Collect, organize, and interpret community member and stakeholder input and feedback.
Create and/or assist with the creation of designs and materials for distribution to community members and project stakeholders.
Assist with research to determine feasibility of potential properties and projects.
Support fundraising, outreach, and communications by providing graphics, maps, designs, project narratives, project budgets, and other information.
Assist with various events and celebrations as needed.
Qualifications:
Degree in landscape architecture, architecture, urban planning, or related field with at least 3 years of professional experience.
Demonstrated consciousness of racial justice, environmental racism, and equity.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated experience working with low‐income communities of color.
A California Driver’s License.
Ability and willingness to work in a fast‐paced work environment.
Willingness to work after hours and weekends when necessary and ability to work independently.
Must thrive on change, innovation, and teamwork.

Part Time Lecturer for Landscape Architecture

The Landscape Architecture Department seeks applicants for a pool of part-time lecturers, with positions available as determined by need during the 2026-2027 academic year beginning August 17, 2027. Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications, experience and time base.
Primary responsibilities are to teach in one or more of the following core subject areas:
a) Lower-and upper-division design studios and support courses;
b) Landscape representation, hand and digital graphics that include 2 or 3-dimensional graphics and drafting, CAD drafting and/or GIS software;
c) Landscape architecture construction including site engineering, construction document preparation and implementation strategies;
d) Environmental systems, landscape performance, and landscape ecology;
e) Planting design;
f) Professional practice, social equity design, design for climate change.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
A Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture or a related field. Experience to fulfill a special need in the department will be considered with an undergraduate degree from various disciplines.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Teaching and/or professional practice experience. Teaching experience is valuable but not required.
Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. As of July 2024, the classification salary ranges for the respective ranks are:
Lecturer A: $5,507-$6,677
Lecturer B: $6,221-$13,224
Lecturer C: $6,825-$14,523
Lecturer D: $8,593-$15,211

Mid- to Senior-level Interpretive Planner/Designer

PlaceWorks has an immediate need for a mid-to senior-level interpretive planner/designer to join our team. We are looking for an individual with 6 - 8 years of professional experience in project management, interpretive planning and exhibit design who is creative, outgoing, self-starting, and passionate about helping shape and improve communities through their work. In addition, this planner/designer must have a strong interest in parks and open space, and engaging underserved communities in the development in the interpretation of California’s natural and cultural history.
Working in a collaborative and casual work environment under the guidance of skilled senior staff, this team member will help lead PlaceWorks’ Landscape and Park Planning teams currently working with local and State agencies, and particularly, California State Parks, as well as with community organizations and non-profit partners, to manage projects involving interpretive planning and design. We have a current need for this planner/designer to assist with the following:
Help lead projects coordinating interpretive planning, design and fabrication for interpretive media, including but not limited to interpretive media related to California Native American heritage and culture.
Help lead projects requiring research, evaluation of interpretive materials, and development of interpretive guidelines and standards.
Support several projects with California State Parks that will engage California communities, including communities of color, tribes, underserved communities, and others regarding park and open space access. Current projects include an emphasis in increasing and improving arts, culture and interpretation in parks, and more accurately and comprehensively addressing African American and tribal history and culture in park programs and exhibits.
Assist with the planning, design and development of interpretive master plans for parks and public spaces, as well as the public outreach and engagement related to these projects.
This position is ideally based in our Berkeley office or Sacramento office. However, remote work may be considered for qualified candidates who reside more than one hour from either office location. Remote employees must be located within California to support team collaboration. We are open to this position being part-time or full-time, depending on the range of skills a candidate possesses.
